WHY DID YOU GET MARRIED? – 2
Jan 08, 2022People get married for several reasons and over time they realize their reasons are not strong enough to sustain their marriage. For example, some will tell you they married their spouse because they have always desired to have someone who can take care of their homes. The truth however is, if that was your reason for getting married, you didn't need a wife; you actually needed a house keeper.
In the same vein if your reason for getting married to your spouse was because of their food, then a cook would most likely do a better job for you. I have heard people say to me that they married because she was good in bed and I often wonder if a sex worker wouldn’t do a better job. I have heard women tell me they got married because they felt the man would make them happy but they soon realized that anyone who can determine your happiness can also determine your sadness.
Why did you get married?
You can write out and and analyze your reasons for getting married very well and it would shock you to discover that most of your reasons had to do with you and nothing to do with your spouse. Simply put, you married him/her for you and not for him/her.
You may note at this juncture that any reason for which you marry which is not in a bid to selflessly improve the other person (your spouse) and align to achieve something that takes both of you forever to achieve, is a selfish reason which may not make the marriage last. That is one of the major reasons a lot of marriages are finding it difficult to go beyond the 5year mark.
I am so certain you will rediscover a higher purpose for marriage because once your marital purpose is wrong, your actions would be wrong as well. Your marriage will receive fresh air and things will work for you this season.
