Let me tell you the story of a popular neurosurgeon whose parents helped him become the man he is today.
Dr Myron Rolle’s father discovered his talents for sports when he was 9 years old, and encouraged him to join the American football league in his high school.
When He joined, he noticed that he excelled more than his peers and he loved it. He gave his father this feedback, and immediately, the father got to work on training him.
Dr Myron played through high school and got a college scholarship. He kept playing until He got drafted into the NFL.
As you know, playing certain sports like this lasts for a short time (you have to retire early). When He finally retired at 27 years old, he was confused about what to do next.
One day, his mother came into his room to show him an old book. When he opened the book, he saw the page where he wrote the following:
When I grow up, I will become;
- An NFL player
- A neurosurgeon
When he read this, confusion ended and he got on his feet. He used the salary from the NFL to fund himself through medical school.
Some years later, He’s now a neurosurgery resident at Massachusetts General Hospital (Harvard University).
Currently, He has a foundation that medically serves the Caribbean community (He’s originally from the BAHAMAS).
